My favorite part of a pig is the belly, I don't like lean mean very much, probably because I like the fat, Ha! cholesterol and fats, why are you bad and tastes so good at the same time?
Anyway, here is a favorite recipe of mine using pork belly. Melts in your mouth, guiltful dish.
Honey Garlic Pork Belly
Ingredients:
1/4 kl pork belly (1/2 inch thick each, preferably no skin)
2TBsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp seasoning
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
2 cloves garlic (crushed)
2 Tbsp honey
pinch of salt and a dash of pepper
Procedure:
Rub pork belly with the garlic and side aside
In a bowl or marinating dish, combine soy sauce, seasoning, mustard, honey, salt and pepper.
Add pork belly to the marinade making sure that each piece is coated. Set aside for at least 30 minutes.
Line each belly in a baking pan, covered with aluminum foil and bake at 150C for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes.
Rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
My Tips:
marinated pork belly can also be pan grilled or fried.
you can use as many garlic as you wish depending on your taste
it is suggested to marinate pork overnight inside the fridge for a more flavorful dish
