Wonder Food: Blackstrap Molasses

About two years ago, I have been suffering from asthma triggered by allergy as you know.  I am allergic to the changing weather, so everytime there is a change in season, I will have asthma.  This stopped when a friend of mine introduced molasses to me as an alternative source of vitamins to boost my immune system.  Since 2009, my asthma attacks tremendously decreased to twice a year compared to the 6 to 8 times a year before I took molasses.

Description
Blackstrap molasses is just one type of molasses, the dark liquid byproduct of the process of refining sugar cane into table sugar. It is made from the third boiling of the sugar syrup and is therefore the concentrated byproduct left over after the sugar's sucrose has been crystallized.

Health Benefits
Blackstrap molasses is a sweetener that is actually good for you. Unlike refined white sugar and corn syrup, which are stripped of virtually all nutrients except simple carbohydrates, or artificial sweeteners like saccharine or aspartame, which not only provide no useful nutrients but have been shown to cause health problems in sensitive individuals, blackstrap molasses is a healthful sweetener that contains significant amounts of a variety of minerals that promote your health.

Some of the nutrients you can get from molasses are:

Manganese's key role is in the activation of enzymes that are needed for the digestion and utilization of foods and nutrients.

It also plays a role in reproduction and bone growth. It is sometimes called the 'brain' mineral, as it is important to mental function.

The health benefits of copper are crucial for healthy existence, as this mineral enables normal metabolic process in association with amino acids and vitamins. Copper cannot be produced within the body and hence needs to be sourced from external food sources. Copper is the third most prevalent mineral in the body and it is mostly carried by the blood plasma protein, Ceruloplasmin.

Iron has several key roles in the body: oxygen supply, energy production, and to keep the immune system healthy.

Its major role is to deliver oxygen to tissues and muscles throughout the body.  ron forms the core of hemogloblin, the oxygen-carrying component of red blood cells that enables blood to pick up oxygen from the lungs and carry it to every cell in the body.

Calcium is essential in bone development and dental care, for the prevention of colon cancer and reduces obesity.

This is the third most abundant mineral in human body, is the synonym for health insurer. It contains the qualities for maintaining a high level of human well-being and a cheerful lifestyle. There is no way one should overlook the inclusion of potassium in routine diet plan. Apart from acting as an electrolyte, this mineral is required for keeping heart, brain, kidney, muscle tissues and other important organs of human body in good condition.
